GABRIELE VEES
Sample Text
Construction and dismantling around the core shows the trunk of a silver fir whose time or life seems to have expired like an hourglass. Each stage documents a period of eight years. Together with the pith, the age of the tree is 88 years. A horizontal eight, the sign for infinity. The sculpture contains contrasts of positive and negative forms, which come to a head in the center and form the turning point there. Through the gradual preparatory work down to the core, what was previously hidden in the core is brought to light. The once dead dead branches emerge, which were trapped (in the trunk) by the tree growth.
